APC Exam Dates 2027: Not Yet Released — What Is Confirmed for the APEP Written Assessment

Fee update, 24 September 2026: the APC fees change on 21 October 2026. From that date: Cultural Safety Training $242 (up from $235), Written Assessment $2,078 (up from $2,017), Clinical Workshop $1,903 (up from $1,464) and Internal Review $603 (up from $585). Eligibility Assessment ($1,170) and Capability Assessment ($2,928) do not change. Fees paid on or before 20 October 2026 are at the earlier amounts. Confirm the current fee on the APC website before you pay.

If you are an overseas-qualified physiotherapist planning a 2027 Written Assessment, start with the honest position: the Australian Physiotherapy Council has not yet released its 2027 dates. Its Written Assessment page currently says only that "Our 2027 dates will be released soon."

Treat any 2027 schedule you find elsewhere — including extrapolations from the 2026 pattern — as guesswork until the APC publishes. Dates drive visa timing, leave and flights, and a wrong date is expensive.

What you can plan around today is the confirmed sitting still ahead of you in 2026, the way the APC has historically shaped its calendar, and the fact that everything before the Written Assessment is under your control right now. This guide covers all three, plus how the clinical components are booked and what the pathway costs.

The APEP pathway in one minute

The overseas-qualified route is now the Australian Physiotherapy Entry Pathway (APEP) — it replaced the former Standard Assessment Pathway, so if you're following older guidance, check it's APEP. The assessment has four components, completed in order:

1. Eligibility Assessment + Cultural Safety Training — the document/eligibility stage.
2. Written Assessment — a computer-based exam, sat in person or remotely, held as fixed sittings four times a year. This is the component with fixed, published sitting dates — and the one whose 2027 schedule the APC has not yet released.
3. Capability Assessment — an online oral exam (clinical reasoning), delivered by video call.
4. Clinical Workshop — a one-day, in-person workshop at the APC's Hawthorn venue in Melbourne (Level 4, 302 Burwood Road).

After you complete APEP, you register with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia through Ahpra.

Written Assessment: what is actually confirmed

The Written Assessment runs as fixed sittings, four times a year, and you apply within a window that opens months ahead and closes several weeks before the exam.

2027 dates: not yet published. The APC says they will be released soon. When they land, they will appear on the APC's Written Assessment page — that page, not a third party, is the one to trust.

If you are aiming at an early-2027 sitting, the practical consequence is this: you cannot apply yet, but you can be completely ready to apply the day the window opens. Eligibility Assessment and Cultural Safety Training are the gate, and both are entirely in your hands now.

A few practical points from the APC:

• All in-person and remote examinations begin at 9am (Melbourne time). If you're sitting remotely from another timezone, convert that carefully.
• Results are emailed within 6 weeks of the assessment day.
• If you need to resit, there is a 14-day wait after results are released before you can apply for another Written Assessment.
• The application deadline is the real deadline, not the exam date — it closes roughly six to seven weeks before each sitting, and you must be through the eligibility stage first. Apply early in the window.

The clinical components: booked around you, not fixed dates

Unlike the Written Assessment, the Capability Assessment and Clinical Workshop do not have fixed public 2027 dates. You book them from available sessions once you're eligible:

• Capability Assessment — an online oral exam of about 1.5 hours (roughly two hours in total), by video call with an Australian physiotherapist assessor. You book from available sessions through your Candidate Portal after passing the Written Assessment.
• Clinical Workshop — a one-day, in-person session at the APC's Hawthorn venue in Melbourne (Level 4, 302 Burwood Road), selected from available dates via your Candidate Dashboard (candidates historically get several weeks' notice).

So for these two, don't wait for a published "2027 date" — the action is to become eligible and then book the next available session that suits you.

Fees (current schedule — expect a 2027 change)

These are the current APEP fees, which took effect 5 January 2026 (a 3% CPI increase). The APC has not published a separate 2027 schedule, and it has historically adjusted fees by CPI each January — so budget for a likely 2027 change and confirm before you pay:

English and registration — separate, and worth starting early

English language evidence and final registration are handled by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia / Ahpra, separately from the APC assessment. Confirm the currently accepted English tests and scores on Ahpra's own page, and start that early — a test booking and result turnaround is a common lead-time bottleneck.

The APC had not published 2027 Written Assessment dates as at 26 August 2026 — its page says they will be released soon. The 2026 dates and all fees above were re-checked against the APC's own pages on that date. The clinical components never have fixed public dates, and the fees shown are the current January 2026 schedule, not a confirmed 2027 one. Dates, fees and requirements are set by the APC and Ahpra and can change. Confirm the current details on physiocouncil.com.au before booking travel, leave or anything else you can't easily undo.
